15th August 2026 Windsurfing: The Manor at Felixsrtowe Wind Direction: NE Wind Stength: 10/22 Surf / Sea State: smooth and big out. Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Mainly cloudy Max Speed: 18.18 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 34.50 mile (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Saturday 15th August – Windsurf *** The Manor at Felixstowe – mainly cloudy and cooler. Foil – 18.18 knot max, 16.96 knot ave., 12.76 knot hour, 16.31 knot mile, 55.82 km., 13.59 knot alpha. Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Bolt 5.75m. Walk *** - Felixstowe Ferry. I passed on the early morning walk with Mag and instead I drove down to Felixstowe Ferry at 9.30 hoping to see the kids from FFSC head out for their Saturday session, sadly there was no sign of then today so I walked to the boatyard to watch the world go by. I saw both the rowing boats return from a trip down the coast, watched the ferry go to Bawdsey a few times and there were loads of families crabbing too and then the grey fishing boat returned from an early fishing trip before I set off for home. I only got as far as The Dip when I spotted 11 yachts beating up the coast close to the shore to avoid the strongest tide straight into a head wind which had just swung NE and increased, I later learned that their race started at 10 from Wadgate and was ending in Lowsetoft, it was going to be a bumpy sail for then for sure! Windsurf *** - The Manor at Felixstowe. After sending a few pics to the TV weather there was certainly enough breeze to foil, the only problem was the tide which was high at 2.17 meaning I was too late for a trip to Wrabness and as there was no beach at The Dip I decided to check out The Manor as Al Wiz said he was heading out shortly! I loaded the van and headed down to Squiz Lane at 12.30 and was amazed to get a prime parking spot but there was a couple of fishermen in my launch groyne, this actually helped as I launched in the next groyne down which had less shore break and the beach was not so steep! I set-up in my usual spot and with at least 18mph on the beach I took a chance with my 5.75, Al walked up for a quick chat saying he was going out on his 116lt fin boards with his new Severne 6.5! After a run of sunny, hot weather today was mainly cloudy and a lot cooler and I launched with no problems. It was wind with tide at this point so I did a lot of beating so not to lose downwind and the sea was pretty big especially going out where you were sailing straight into the waves which were not a problem! I did my usual long runs up to nearly two miles out where there were several passing yachts actually sailing! I was joined on the water for an hour by Al who was going well on his fin gear before the wind eased a little so I came ashore. I sat on the beach for ages chatting with Al as the wind eased right back, Al decided to call it a day while I carried my gear to the next groyne to pack up but the tide had turned and the sea had flattened off with the wind returning so after a quick snack I decided to give in another go and actually sailed another ten miles in odd conditions, it was pretty smooth to start with but as the tide increased further out it really chopped up the sea and with a tired legs I was finding it hard to keep the board flying so it was time to call it a day, after all I had sailed nearly 35 miles!
